Tomatoes love sunshine so make sure yours is getting at least 6 hours of direct sunshine a day. Tomato plants adapt well to growing in containers. Choose a 3 or 5 gallon container with lots of drainage holes in the bottom and fill it with potting soil, then plant your tomato plant. Water it well and check the soil for water needs every other day. If it is dry one inch beneath the soil surface, it's time to water. Feeding plants in containers can be a little tricky because if you over fertilize, the roots can burn. To make sure this doesn't happen, feed your plant every 2-3 weeks with a half strength dilution of water soluable fertilizer (such as Miracle Gro). This will supply the nutrients the roots need without the possiblility of overfeeding. Good luck with your tomato plant.
