Young podocarpus gracilis had the bark stripped around the middle of the trunk. How can i save the tree?

The best thing to do is nothing at all. If you cover the damaged area you will slow the healing process. Healthy bark will callous over the damage so just leave the tree alone. Best wishes with your landscape.
