|H. F. Young Clematis grows about 8- 10' so it's adaptable to container growing. It is hardy to zone 4 and will grow in partial shade. You'll want to protect your plant over the winter by moving it close to the house and wrapping the container in bubble wrap to help insulate it from the cold. It may die all the way down in the winter but you can simply prune away the dead vines and expect to see new growth in the early spring. Best wishes with your new clematis.
