The plant label on the jungle flame ixora plants I recently purchased say shade (4 hrs or less sun). The internet says these tropical plants require full sun. Which is correct?

Both are correct. Jungle flame ixora will grow in full sun to part shade. In your hot summer climate, morning sun is best with filtered afternoon shade. If your plant gets 4 hours of morning sun it will bloom nicely for you. If you plant it in full sunshine it will still bloom nicely but in might wilt in the hot afternoon sun. Hope this clarifies things for you.
