My watermelon plants are growing like crazy and producing flowers....but after it forms the little balls they are falling off. What can I do to prevent it. Thanks, Jacksonville, FL |
Sounds like poor pollination. If insects don't visit the flowers and transfer pollen, the little fruits will fail to grow. You can encourage lots of bee activity in your garden by refraining from using pesticides and by planting lots of colorful flowers near your melon plants. As the season progresses you should see more and more bee activity and more of the melons will grow to maturity. Best wishes with your melons! |
