|My land is very dry and not much top soil, very sandy underneath. Is there any type of fertilizer I could use to improve this? I cannot afford to put down more soil.

|You can amend the soil with compost, adding a little more each year and eventually improve your soil. Start with 3-4 inches of compost, spread it over the top and dig it in to a depth of about 8 inches. After planting spread another inch or two over the top between the plants. At the end of the growing season dig it into the soil and spread a fresh layer on top. After a few years of this practice you'll end up with rich garden loam. Best wishes with your garden!
