To keep the plant blooming do I need to cut the flower stems when the blooms fade? Thanks Betty

Yes. Deadheading promotes a long bloom period; snip off flower spikes to side branches when the flowers are spent. I just cut mine down to the basal leaves and new flower stalks emerge a few weeks later.
