My knock out rose bushes have become extremely large and gangly. When and how can I prune them

Knock Out roses can be pruned in the spring to reduce their height and width. You can prune them back by about a third now. If they're still too large, allow them to recover and prune them back again in late summer or early fall. If you take them down too far all at once they may not recover until the weather cools in the fall.
