Kentucky bluegrass should certainly be green by now! If yours is yellowing, it can be due to over watering or poorly draining soils, or there may be a fungal disease at work. It's difficult to diagnose without examining a sample of turf, roots and soil. I'd suggest digging out a small square ( 6 inches by 6 inches) that includes roots and soil and taking it into your local cooperative extension office for diagnosis. Helpful staff can examine the turf - with a microscope if necessary - and positively identify the problem. They will also suggest controls. Contact Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County , 21 South Grove Street, East Aurora NY 14052 (716) 652-5400. Best wishes with your turfgrass.
