|I live in the Chicago area and left my Delphinium plant in a pot on my balcony over the winter. It began sprouting about a month ago, but it is very slow. I removed the old stalks and It has only sprouted about one inch. Is this the normal growth rate? Will I see blooms this year?

|I think the plant will grow a little faster as the weather gets consistently warmer. I'm sure the roots were stressed by being out in the cold winter weather so they may not have much stored energy. Just give your delphinium a little more time to catch up and I'm sure it will flower for you.
