If the leaves themselves are emerging a brownish/mahogany color, it's perfectly normal. The new growth is naturally this color but will turn to a deep green when the leaves mature. If the leaves were green and are turning colors, it's usually weather related. Cold nights can do that to them and they will return to their normal color a little later in the season. Best wishes with your new plants.
