Unlike hybrid rose bushes, Knock Out roses don't require any special pruning. Trim them like a hedge, reducing their size with shears or a hedge trimmer. They will produce new flowering stems from just below the pruning cuts. I take mine back a third to a half each spring to keep them looking neat and tidy and to encourage lots of flowers.
