Rose of Sharon is quite adaptable to most soils. You can mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil if yours is very sandy. Organic matter will help the soil hold more moisture so you won't have to water so often. Rose of Sharon can grow in full sun to part shade. In your hot summer area I'd plant it in morning sun and filtered afternoon shade. Enjoy your new plant!
