It's important to water the lawn after fertilzing to move the fertilizer down to the soil surface. If you didn't water, it's possible the lawn was burned o or at least the surface of the grass was burned. The good news is that only the tops of the leaf blades are affected and the lawn will recover and begin to green up as the leaf blades grow and you mow off the dead blades. Just water and mow regularly and it will green up again. Best wishes with your lawn.
