My Crimson Birch tree is missing actual leaves on it's highest point. Do you have any ideas on what caused that and anyway to keep it alive. It is about 10 years old now.

Bronze birch borers can cause the symptoms you describe but without getting up into the tree and closely inspecting the branches, it's difficult to confirm or rule out this possibility. You may want to do this - or hire someone to inspect your tree. Hope the lack of foliage is due to water stress and not insect problems!
