Can forget me nots & poppies be cut back after they bloom in the spring? Do they reseed themselves? They were so beautiful in the spring but now they just make the garden look sad and unkept.

Yes, you can cut both poppies and forget me nots down after they have finished flowering. Wait until the flowers develop seed pods, the pods ripen and spill seeds on the ground. Next year you'll have lots of new plants. Or, allow the seed pods to turn tannish in color and collect the seeds for sowing next spring. Either way, you'll have new plants!
