Last year I has black spots all over the tomatos but not blossom end rot. Just had to skin them and they were fine to eat. What was that? Is it nematodes?

It doesn't sound like nematodes, it sounds more like Bacterial Speck. The symptoms are tiny, raised dark spots, usually with a white border. To control, use a copper fungicide if you see the problem developing again this year.
