Is it safe to grow vegetables, herbs and fruit trees like cherry, blueberry, strawberry in the screened lanai. I was told that the chemicals in the pool is not good for them and won't be fit to eat.

I don't think that being in a screened lanai with a swimming pool with harm your vegetables and fruits. There is a fresh air exchange through the screen and as long as you can sit comfortably in the lanai, there is enough fresh air for your plants to remain healthy, too. Just be sure to rinse off the berries, herbs and veggies just before you eat them, to remove any pool water that may have splashed onto them.
