Can you please tell me why the leaves of my asian pear tree are turning black and withered? Is a disease causing that or insects are doing that?

The symptoms you describe may be due to environmental conditions, or they could indicate a disese called Fire Blight, caused by a bacterium called Erwinia. If the leaves turn brown-black and hang on the tree, you may want to prune the affected leaves, twigs and branches off the tree to prevent the spread of the disease. Before taking any action, take a sample of the problem to your local Cooperative Extension office for a positive identification.
