What is the reason that my Hosta here in SE Virginia is now blooming?
Usual bloom time is late summer.

Sounds like your hostas are confused! Weather triggers the development of flower stalks. You can leave them alone or you can cut them down. Either way, your hosta will continue to put out new leaves - and probably new flower stalks later this summer. Best wishes with your hostas!
