Seeds of cacti need light and warmth to germinate, and will sprout erratically. Here are some tips for starting them: Sow seeds on top of dampened seed starting mix, just barely pressing them into the soil. Place plastic wrap over the pots or trays to help retain moisture. Put them in a warm place, such as on top of the refrigerator, or on propagating mats. Remove sprouts as they appear and pot up individually in sandy potting soil. Seeds will take from 7-180 days to germinate when kept at 75F - 80F degrees.
