A rabbit ate all my parsley, most of my basil and some cucumber plants the other day. I don't have a fence. Is there a repellant that really works in case I'm brave enough to plant again?

Caging your plants is really the best deterrent. It won't look very attractive but at least your plants will be safe. There are deterrents such as Liquid Fence or Ropel but they are nasty tasting and you wouldn't want to apply it to any herbs or vegetables you plan to eat. I'd go with a fence instead. You can make cylinders out of chicken wire to set over your plants or make a semi circle hoop to set over them if they're planted in a row. Good luck with your garden!
