If I have a hosta with the virus and I remove that plant, can another hosta get the virus if I plant it in the the same spot?
Also is the hosta

The hosta virus will not survive in the soil so replanting healthy hostas in the same spot is acceptable. I'd plant some of the more resistant cultivars, just to hedge the bet. Several hosta varieties reported to be resistant or immune to HVX include ?Blue Angel,? ?Color Glory,? ?Frances Williams,? ?Bressingham Blue,? ?Frosted Jade? and ?Love Pat.? Susceptible varieties include ?El Capitan,? ?Francee,? ?Halcyon? and ?Cherry berry.?

Frances Williams hosta is both heat resistant and rust resistant. Enjoy your hostas!
