I just moved into a house in Lynnwood. The yard has been ignored for at least 2 years (no fed etc) there are yellow patches that are not growing any grass. I'm not real sure what it is or how to treat it.

Thank you for your help

I'm not sure what the problem is = dog spots, perhaps? In any event the best approach is to rake out the yellow patches, work a little compost into the soil and overseed. If the spots are from dog urine, the compost will help balance the soil's pH. If the spots are from a fungal disease, removing the diseased grass and amending the soil will help get rid of the disease. Best wishes with your lawn!
