Last spring my red bud tree was affected by a late frost and only one branch bloomed. I was told that the tree would come back. Not so. The same thing happened this year. Would I kill the tree if I trimmed off all but the live branches? Any other ideas?

You can prune off anything that's obviously dead. In fact, pruning now should encourage healthy new growth. The more branches you have on your red bud, the more flowers you'll get next year. Go ahead and prune.
