Our recently purchased home has a backyard that is edged in ivy (not sure what kind). I know to cut it off of the trees and keep it shaped with the mower so it doesn't take over. BUT it seem to be getting bushier on top AND i have weeds growing up through it. Is there a way to prune it on top and easily kill the weeds without having to pull them all individually?

Ornamec is a very effective, selective grass killer that is safe to use around most shrubs, trees and ground covers. Check their extensive list on the label to be sure your ivy is considered to be safe to use the product around. Over The Top by Fertilome and Amaze by Green Light are similar products. Again, if they are safe to use around ivy, the label will specifically say so. Best wishes with your backyard.
