How can I make my own insecticidal soap for aphids. The insecticidal soap that I purchased does not get rid of the aphids. Thank you

Insecticidal soaps contain fatty acids derived from plants. That makes them safe for your plants but the fatty acids dissolve the aphid's skin and dehydrate them. A good brand of Insecticidal Soap such as Safer's will kill the aphids without harming your plants. However, if you want to make your own, you can use one to two tablespoons of liquid soap (not detergent) mixed into one quart of water. Do some testing on your plant. Sometimes homemade remedies can be phytotoxic (can burn plant tissues in the presence of sunshine). Good luck with your project!
