I am never sure just how to get rid of dead frons in my ferns especially when the dead frons outnumber the live frons. Should I leave some of the partially live frons to nurish the plant while the new frons are developing?

Ferns develop fronds from the center of the plant. You can remove all of the dead fronds now. If you the remove half dead fronds you'll encourage the development of healthy new fronds from the center of the plant. As long as your plant has at least a few green fronds, photosynthesis can take place.
