Blight is a pretty broad term and is used to describe symptoms of dead or dying branches on previously healthy trees. There are specific treatments for specific types of blights in certain landscape trees, but without knowing which tree is affected, I can't really suggest treatments. If you submit another question to this forum with the type of tree affected and describe the symptoms you've noticed, we may be able to suggest controls. Or, you can take a sample of the problem to your local cooperative extension office for positive diagnosis and control strategies. I'm not sure which county you're in so here's a webpage where you can enter your county and find your nearest extension office: http://web.extension.illinois....
