Leaves are turning yellow at base of plant and falling off and spreading upward. Plant still in container, waiting to move to new home. What is causing this? Is it too much water or not enough. Plant gets 6 hours of morning sunlight and shade in afternoon.

Overwatering can cause the lower leaves to yellow and fall off the plant. Six hours of sunshine is fine for a containerized plant. I suspect yours is getting anxious to get its roots into the ground and spread out. You might want to transplant it into a larger container while it's waiting for you to move and install it into your landscape. Hope it can be a little more patient! Best wishes with your grapevine, and with your new landscape.
