I have a tree, maybe an elm (uncertain) that has begun getting nodules/wart-like growths, and the bark is splitting about an inch deep. Also, one branch is totally bare now. The tree is 5 yrs. old, maybe a little more. Could this be elm disease? I can find now pictures online to compare.

We can't open photo attachments through this forum so the next best way to diagnose the problem with your elm is to send you to one or both of the following websites. They both discuss in detail the symptoms and signs of the most common problems with elm trees. I hope you find it helpful and I hope the information helps guide you to the positive i.d. and control measures to help save your tree.
