I have several questions.
1. Can I divide a hosta now and replant the halves, or is it too hot.
2. Can I trim a yellow privet bush back by 1/3 now or is it too late?

3. Can campanulas and delphiniums do OK in 1/2 day of shade?

Thanks so much, Dorian

Your hostas will suffer if you dig and divide them now. I'd wait until this fall when the weather is cooler, or next spring just as the plants begin to grow for the season. You can trim your privet back now. It will respond with lots of healthy new growth. Both campanulas and delphniums will be happy in part sun. Give them afternoon shade if possible. Enjoy your garden!
