I have a a juniper bed in my yard and it is infested with poison ivy. What can I do to kill it without harm to juniper? |
I wish there were an easy solution, but anything you use to kill the poison ivy will also kill your junipers. You may be able to spot treat the poison ivy with Round Up or Brush B Gon and still save your junipers. Simply cut the poison ivy off near ground level and immediately paint the stub with Round Up or Brush B Gon. Don't spray or the drift could damage your junipers. The Round Up will be transported down to the roots of the poison ivy and kill the root but it won't travel in the soil so your juniper roots will be safe. You'll need to cut and paint each and every vine, and new vines will crop up all summer long so have your paintbrush and your Round Up ready for them. If you keep at it you'll eventually kill out the poison ivy. |
