I am going to be married in October and would like to grow flowers for the wedding especially for the reception tables. What flowers bloom during that time in Southern California? And just in case, I may have to resort to the local nursery should my seedlings fail--what do they usually carry during that time of the year? |
There are a number of striking blooms that appear in late summer and early fall in Southern California. Chrysanthemums top the list, followed by asters of all kinds, Zinnias, Mexican Sunflower, Moss Rose, Alyssum, Cleome (Spider Flower), Coreopsis, Globe Amaranth, Strawflower and Carnations. Local nurseries are usually happy to provide their customers with most any plant at most any time of year. Check with them way in advance to see how they can help. |
