|Last year I planted a Kousa Dogwood. It has little branches shooting out of the trunk, not at the soil level. When and how is it best to prune this away?

|Now is a good time to remove the unwanted growth. As the summer progresses and you see new sprouts begining to form along the trunk, just rub them out with your thumb. Removing them early in the game will stop the growth and you won't need to use pruners or end up with stubs along the trunk.
