I found two worms on my patio tomato plants. They were brown and about one to one and a quarter inches long and rolled into a ball when touched. When I picked them off the plant with a white paper towel I noticed a green liquid or residue on the papar. What are they and how can I get rid of them?

The best defense against caterpillars is Bt (bacillus thuringensis) which is sold as Dipel or Thuricide. It targets only caterpillars and is registered for use on tomato plants. Be sure to apply according to label directions.
