Prior to planting you can mix a slow release fertilizer into your garden soil. The standard rate is one and a half pounds of 5-10-5 fertilizer per 100 square feet. In your 160 sq. ft. garden you can mix about 2 pounds of fertilizer into the soil to give your new plants a jump start. Best wishes with your garden.
