i just read in a magazine that another type of the purple plant

Salvia does reseed itself if you do not prune off the flowers and they develop seed pods. I like to deadhead mine early in the season to keep them blooming and then let the flowers from late summer stay on the plant. Once they've ripened their seeds, the seeds will fall onto the ground and sprout into new plants. Hope this answers your question!
