|Sounds like a valuable specimen so I'd strongly urge you to hire a certified arborist to assess the health of your tree. I suspect white pine weevil damage or a root rot. Either will cause the symptoms you describe. An arborist can control the insects but there may not be anything you can do about a root problem. I hope your tree recovers!
