|I just bought a house that came with a strawberry patch. The berries have just started to ripen, but are being consumed by bugs before I can pick them. Is there anything I can do about the bugs?

|The first step is to find the bugs responsible for the damage. There are several insecticides you can use, but most are insect specific so you'll need to identify the culprits. Slugs love strawberries and it's likely you have a few of those lurking under the leaves of your plants. The iron based bait called Sluggo does a great job in controlling slugs and any bait that is not consumed by slugs will break down and be absorbed by the soil. Best wishes with your new landscape.
