Hi, I just got 2 house plants - Dumb Cane Dieffenbachia hybrid Tropic Breeze. The leaves bottom are yellow one by one for both the plants. What should I do? I have them in the medium light. |
It's normal for the oldest, lowest leaves on dumb cane to turn yellow and die off. As long as the rest of the plant looks healthy and is putting out new growth, the yellowing leaves are not a symptom of any particular problem. To mask this type of leggy growth, many gardeners plant a cluster of dumbcanes together in a pot. The smaller plants will hide the bare stems of the older plants. Keeping the soil too moist is about the only other reason for yellowing leaves and this may be true with your plants if the yellowing keeps progressing up the plant. Be careful with watering by allowing the top of the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Best wishes with your new plants. |
