The least expensive and most eco-friendly way to attack the weeds and dead spot in your lawn is with a shovel and a rake. Pull the weeds, roots and all, or dig them out roots all all. Be sure to do this before they flower and set seeds and you'll have fewer weeds throughout the summer. To prevent weeds in your garden beds, a 2-3 inch layer of mulch over the bare soil will keep weed seeds from sprouting. Dead areas in your lawn can be raked and reseeded (or take plugs from the healthy parts of your lawn and install them in the bare areas). If you keep at it, you'll eventually have a weed free landscape and nice green grass. Enjoy!
