As I review my plant tags, I read terms like, 'multistemmed', or 'mound' for my perennial's habit. What does these terms mean and are there other terms I should be familiar with? What does 'habit' mean?

What the plants tags are describing is the usual growth pattern for that particular plant. We call it the growth habit of a plant. Knowing the growth habit or pattern of growth in a plant can be important if you are looking for a particular shape or size to fit a particular spot in your garden. Describing a plant on the plant tag can help you envision what the plant might look like at maturity. Hope this sheds some light on the subject!
