|We always recommend your rotate your crops from year to year to keep them healthy. Pathogens and insects that attack tomato plants can also attack potato plants because they are members of the same family. But, if your potatoes were healthy and you've mixed some compost into the soil, there's no reason you cannot plant tomatoes there this year. Next year I'd plant something completely different in the area, just to make sure there are no overwintering pathogens ready to pounce on your veggies. Best wishes with your tomatoes!
