Lavender - Knowledgebase Question

I have not been able to grow lavender. I have tried using pots and tried growing the plants in the ground. My soil is very good, healthy and well drained. I get half a day sun. I would prefer using pots. But whether in pots or in the ground, the plants grow just so far and then stop. I water when they get dry and use Miracle-Gro when I do fertilize.
I have used potting soil in the pots but nothing I do seems to matter. What am I doing wrong?

Lavender is one of those tough plants that thrives on neglect. Perhaps you're giving it too much attention! Provide as much sunshine as possible, and allow the soil to dry out between waterings. When you do water, make sure the entire root mass gets wet. Pinch your plants back early in the spring to promote a bushy habit and lots of flowering stems, and slow down on the frequency of fertilizer applications. Better luck with your next pot of lavender!
