It may not be easy to find zoysia grass seeds, but if you can, go ahead and use them. If you cannot find the seeds you can take plugs from a healthy part of your lawn and put them in the bare spot. Start by raking out all the dead grass and roots, if possible. Then work in some compost to help loosen the soil and help it hold moisture for the roots of your seeds or plugs. Then either broadcast seeds over the bare area or cut out little sections of grass from other areas of your lawn. Sometimes you can simply cut out a long strip of grass along one of the borders and it will hardly be noticeable. Cut down through the roots and after removing the strip of lawn, cut the strip into 2-3 inch pieces. As long as each section has both roots and grass blades it should root and spread when you plant it. After planting or seeding, keep the area moist so the roots can establish themselves. Good luck with your lawn.
