My Day Lilles are infested with little red spider looking things. My Clematatis is dying on the vine, withering and turning brown and my Hostas are being eaten by something that leaves holes and rust looking edges on them (ouch!) Please what can I do?

The little red spider looking things are probably spider mites. They love dry, dusty places so hosing off your daylilies every week or so will discourage them. You can spray with insecticidal soap or a general purpose garden insecticide to control them. Hostas are magnets to slugs and snails. They feed at night so are hard to detect unless you go out after dark with a flashlight. If you find them feeding on your hostas you can use a bait such as Sluggo around your plants.

I'm not sure what's happening with your clematis. There's a problem called clematis wilt that matches the symptoms you describe but I can't diagnose it without actually inspecting the plant. I'd recommend pruning off the dead plant parts and disinfecting your pruning shears once you've finished cutting back the plant.

Good luck with your garden.
