I'm planning a Mexican Riveira style patio and have only box planters that are 1.5 feet deep and in three 4 ft. long sections to work with. Also I have pots (hanging & regular) and am planning on adding lattice for vines. What plants are suited for this growing environment and have similar care requirements? (very busy and afraid having too many variables will result dead plants!)Thank you

I'd stick to heat and drought tolerant plants if the planting areas are in full sunshine. Some to consider include Lavender, Gazania, miniature roses, Geraniums, Butterflyweed; Anise hyssop; Amsonia; Artemisia, False blue indigo; Perennial bachelor?s button; Coreopsis; Dianthus spp. - Pinks; Purple cone flower; Globe thistle; Sea holly; Gaillardia spp. - Blanket flower; Hemerocallis spp. ? Daylily; Hibiscus moscheutos - Common mallow; Siberian iris; Liatris spp. - Gay feather; Phlox; Rudbeckia spp. - Black-eyed Susan; Salvia spp. - Sage; Sedum spp. - Sedum; Thyme; and Verbascum. Best wishes with your containerized garden.
