|I have an African Violet that is growing beautifully. How do I know when it is time to repot?|
|A good rule of thumb for African Violets is that the pot should be 1/3 the diameter of the plant. These plants should be repotted approximately once every six months, although most people don't repot more than once a year. The plants aren't that picky about the issue!
Repotting serves several purposes. It removes any fertilizer salts that have built up in the soil. It incorporates fresh soil with new nutrients. Finally, it allows you to bury the "neck" of the plant (the bare place where leaves have been taken off) so it isn't above the level of the soil and can grow new roots.
Good luck with your African Violets!
