|Your tomato plants won't need to be fed until they have set their first fruits. When they've reached that stage of maturity they will benefit with a side dressing of a general purpose 5-10-10 or compost. The amount of fertilizer to apply depends upon the brand you purchase but there will be recommendations for amounts per plant clearly listed on the label. Be careful not to overfertilize or you'll end up with lots of rank green growth at the expense of fruits. If you're using compost rather than packaged fertilier, a 2-3 inch layer around each plant (but not touching the stems where they emerge from the ground) should be sufficient. Hope you have a great harvest!
